NEW! Bodacious Bugs & Awesome Arachnids

Grade 1 - Needs & Characteristics of Living Things, Daily & Seasonal Cycles; Grade 2 - Growth & Changes in Animals, Air & Water in the Environment; Grade 3 - Soils in the Environment; Grade 4 - Habitats & Communities; Grade 6 - Biodiversity.

The diverse and exciting life of insects and arachnids await! Students will learn through observing, identifying classifying and examining adaptations, seasonal cycles and the important role these six and eight-legged critters play within interconnected local ecosystems.

Eco-Hike

Grade 1 - Needs & Characteristics of Living Things, Daily & Seasonal Cycles; Grade 2 - Growth & Changes in Animals, Air & Water in the Environment; Grade 3 - Growth & Changes in Plants, Soils in the Environment; Grade 4 - Habitats & Communities; Grade 6 - Biodiversity; Grade 7 - Interactions in the Environment.

Grab your hiking shoes and a bottle of water.  This general ecology hike can be easily adapted to any grade level, specific ecosystem, flora, or fauna.

Go Wild! Survival

Grade 4 - 8 Physical Activity; Gr. 4 - Habitats & Communities; Grade 6 - Biodiversity; Grade 7 - Interactions in the Environment.

Through this exciting educational game, the goal is to survive with students playing the role of a herbivore, omnivore, or carnivore, they must find food and water, while avoiding predators, disease and human influence.

Updated!   May the Forest Be With You

Grade 3 - Growth & Changes in Plants, Soils in the Environment; Grade 4 - Habitats & Communities; Grade 6 - Biodiversity; Grade 7 - Interactions in the Environment.

There has been a murder! Through investigating, observing and comparing, students will be briefed with pertinent information in solving the murder case! In the process of solving the case students will learn concepts such as: tree identification and classification; growth cycles; interdependence between trees, plants and animals; environmental importance, as well as society's reliability on trees.

Puddles & Pollywogs

Grade 1 - Needs & Characteristics of Living Things, Daily & Seasonal Cycles; Grade 2 - Growth & Changes in Animals, Air & Water in the Environment; Gr. 4 - Habitats & Communities; Grade 6 - Biodiversity; Grade 7 - Interactions in the Environment; Grade 8 - Water Systems.

Get your dip nets and rubber boots ready, the pond is spilling with life! Students will gain first hand experience through investigating critters, discussing classification, adaptations, life cycles, food chains, water quality and more!

NEW! Round the Reservoir! (Full Day)

Grade 4 - Habitats & Communities; Grade 6 - Biodiversity; Grade 7 - Interactions in the Environment; Grade 8 - Water Systems; Grades 4-8 Physical Education.

Get ready for a full day of hiking 'round the Morrison Reservoir.  Concepts covered will include; general ecology, habitats, abiotic and biotic components, waterways, and protection of three interrelated local ecosystems found at the Morrison Dam Conservation Area.  The trail is barrier-free and the distance walked will be 2km.  Students will need to bring along a hat, sunscreen, drinking water and a lunch for the hike.

NEW! Seeds, Weeds & Wildflowers!

Grade 1 - Needs & Characteristics of Living Things, Daily & Seasonal Cycles; Grade 3 - Growth & Changes in Plants, Soils in the Environment; Grade 4 - Habitats & Communities; Grade 6 - Biodiversity.

Through a hike and an exciting game of plant survival, students will further develop their investigation, observation and comparison skills.  Concepts such as: plant identification and classification; growth cycles; interdependence between plants, trees and animals; environmental importance, as well as society's reliability on plants.

Spring has Sprung!

Grade 1 - Needs & Characteristics of Living Things, Daily & Seasonal Cycles; Grade 2 - Growth & Changes in Animals, Air & Water in the Environment; Grade 3 - Growth & Changes in Plants, Soils in the Environment.

After a long, cold winter find out what exciting things local critters and plants are up to.  This fun-filled program includes use of senses, games and role playing activities pertaining to the seasonal changes animals endure.

NEW! What's in your Watershed?

Grade 4 - Rocks & Minerals; Conservation of Energy & resources; Grade 6 - Biodiversity; Grade7 - Interactions inthe Environment; Gr. 8 - Water Systems.

Through a hike and hands-on activities, students will investigate the Ausable River System, developing an understanding of the role of wetlands, buffer zones and forests, and human impacts on watershed health.
