Return of South Huron Trail Run raises more than $4,800 for trail

Community organizers brought back the South Huron Trail Run in 2026 and the event raised more than $4,800 for maintenance of the South Huron Trail.

Lorne Rideout is a member of Friends of the South Huron Trail and the trail run organizing committee.

“We would like to thank everyone who ran in the eight-kilometre and 3.25-kilometre runs,” he said. “We would also like to thank all the volunteers and donors and sponsors who made this event possible.”

The trail run returned this year after an absence of several years. It took place on Sunday, August 30, 2026. There were 84 runners who registered for the runs. Those taking part were not deterred by a little rain.

Organizers hope to build on the foundation of this year’s event and bring it back in 2027. They encourage people to watch for details in the coming months and to plan to take part in the new year, whether as a runner, volunteer, organizer, sponsor, or donor.

Net proceeds of the trail run support the South Huron Trail for future trail maintenance.
